The SmartLocation module allows the user to track the location of people throughout or around the house. After placing SmartLocation receivers in every room, occupants register their smart device (smart phone or smart watch) with the SmartLocation system and then turn WiFi on their smart device on. Authorised home occupants will then be able to see the location of all registered smart devices on the SmartHome Server screen or directly ask the SmartAssistant for the location.
The SmartLocation module is able to determine the location of registered (and unregistered) devices by having the SmartLocation receivers detect WiFi packets sent from any smart device. Based on the Returned Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) value of the packets, the location of the user’s device can be determined. This data is then stored in the database and can be retrieved by the SmartHome Server to show the location on a map or it can be used by any other SmartHome module for various location-dependent services.
